Knutsford Primary AcademyInspiring our children to be happy, successful learners and responsible citizens
February 2 2015

At Knutsford Primary Academy, we encourage our children to be active and to use their creativity and imagination in physical activity. They learn new skills that they can apply to games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and swimming. Children work independently or together and have the opportunity to take on a leading role during lessons. They develop their understanding of how to succeed, setting themselves personal challenges in which to improve and build their resilience. They also learn how to evaluate and recognise their own and other’s successes.

The children compete in intra competitions in school and inter competitions against other schools, such as at festivals and tournaments organised by the local Sports Partnership.  These opportunities allow children to develop social skills, physical skills and tactical skills.

The six School Games Values we follow are:

  • Passion
  • Self-belief
  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Determination
  • Teamwork

Our Year 6 Sports Ambassadors play an important role in helping to promote these values throughout the school.

The children also learn about the importance of regular exercise and the positive effects it has on our everyday life, mental health and well-being. This links to our PSHE curriculum.
